Every round earns सिक्के — most for right first time, fewer after a hint or a miss — and a clean play adds a bonus. The game gets harder as you do well, and harder levels pay more: ×1.25, then ×1.5.

Do I need to read Hindi to play?

Not fluently. Every Hindi word is said aloud, and you can look any of them up in समझो, the word atlas — so you can play by ear and pick the script up as you go.
