“Bolbala” means dominance, influence, reign — as in “the reign of speaking.” It captures what we want: a world where Hindi doesn't just survive — it thrives. Where it's loved, spoken, and passed on.

नमस्ते! I'm Deepak.
My team and I built Bolbala for the two people I love most. Then we realised we'd built it for a lot more people than that.
I grew up in North India. Hindi wasn't something I “learned” — it was every joke, every scolding, every bedtime story, every argument over cricket. It was the sound of home.
Then life did what life does. I moved abroad. I fell in love with a wonderful woman from the Philippines, and we had a daughter — a little girl growing up with three cultures at one dinner table.
And one day I understood something: there were two people in my house who needed Hindi, not one. My daughter, so the language of her Dadi doesn't end with me. And my wife, who wants to understand the jokes, the taunts of rishtedaar, the film dialogues, the prayers — not because anyone asked her to, but out of love. One is growing up into Hindi. One is choosing it as an adult. Neither of them needs grammar drills. Both of them need the Hindi of real life — conversational, warm, spoken.
That's why we built Bolbala. It weaves Hindi into your daily life. Stories that pull you in. Games that are actually enjoyable, not homework in disguise. A word atlas that speaks every word aloud. Sheets you can print and trace at the kitchen table. And a free browser extension that turns any website into your Hindi word collection. हिंदी सीखना नहीं, हिंदी जीना।
Bolbala was built at our dinner table, for our dinner table. And it turns out dinner tables like ours are everywhere.
